Indian Gaming Association Formed to Boost Industry

BANGALORE, Jan 13 Asia Pulse - With the overiding objective of giving a boost to the gaming industry, India's leading games companies on Thursday announced the formation of the Indian Games Industry and Trade Association (IGITA).

IGITA, the first exclusive gaming industry association in the country, will focus on creating a platform for interaction and collaboration between international as well as local gaming companies and associations.

It will act as a credible source for industry information, in addition to playing a vital role in encouraging investments in this market. It would also make recommendations that impact policy initiatives to stimulate growth in this arena, a release said.

"India today stands at the threshold of a gaming revolution. The formation of an industry body will provide a platform for interaction between international and local gaming companies, which in turn will bring global knowledge and recognition to India," COO, Electronic Asia Arts and founding member of IGITA Preneet Malhotra, said.

"We have seen a similar effort in China add to growth in gaming and given the similarities of the two markets, we are sure of a similar success in India", said Rjiv Hiranandani, Country Head, Mobile2Win, a founder member of IGITA.
