French Chamber of Commerce to Help Indonesian Small Enterprises$all $id $eur $sec $eco JAKARTA, July 5 Asia Pulse - The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced it will provide technical business skills in production, packing and product marketing to Indonesian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
In order to assist Indonesian small businesses, the French Chamber planned to send some experts to Indonesia to train small businesses in running a business creatively and effectively. Alain said that Indonesian small business products could compete in the world market. But unfortunately, small-scale businessmen in Indonesia had yet to realize the importance of packaging and marketing. Nor did Indonesian small businesses realize that the image of goods was also important. "We will also teach them about this," Alain said. "They will also be taught how to explore creativity. I was sad when observing papaya growers in Kediri (East Java). They depended on selling their papaya only. If their papaya are not sold, they dumped them. Actually they could produce them into jelly, medicines and other products," he said. He said that lack of knowledge on processing technology made Indonesian farmers depend on the sale of their crops only. "If they master the technology of processing, they will benefit a lot from them," he said. Alain also said that Indonesia had a lot of potential. "I am sure that in the next 20 to 30 years, Asia will emerge as a powerful economic block," he added. But this potential had yet to be developed properly, such as by overseas promotion, as in the case of Malaysia and Thailand. "Indonesia has still practically done nothing in overseas marketing promotion. The available information on Indonesia is only about bad things like bombings by terrorists," he added. (ANTARA)
