Unionists at Kia Motors Set to Stage Partial Strike Over PaySEOUL, July 6 Asia Pulse - Unionized workers at Kia Motors Corp. (KSE:000270), South Korea's second-largest automaker, said Friday they were ready to stage a partial work stoppage later in the day after failing to narrow differences with management over wage demands. The 28,000-member union was scheduled to lay down their tools for eight hours starting at 1:30 p.m., the union said in a statement posted on its website.
The union is demanding an 8.9 per cent raise in basic salary and a special bonus equivalent to two months' salary. In the statement, the union accused the management of not having "sincere" negotiations. (Yonhap)
