Punjab Starts Supplying Fish Seed to Farmers

LAHORE, July 6 Asia Pulse - The Fisheries Department in Punjab has started supplying fish seed to farmers throughout the province with the program to continue till October 31.

Minister Fisheries Punjab Sardar Dariya Khan Gopang, while giving details of this supply process, said that fish seed of indigenous and exotic fish species like Rohu, Mori, Thaila, Silver carp, Grass carp and Big head is available at the hatcheries and nursery units of the department and farmers can contact district offices of the department to obtain fish seed at concessional rates.

He said that in order to promote fisheries related activities in the province, technical assistance and advisory service are also being provided to farmers free of cost.

Sardar Dariya Khan said that farmers should follow the departmental instructions regarding stocking of fish seed in farms to achieve maximum yield.
