Market Chatter -- Corporate finance press digest

LONDON, May 13 (Reuters) - The following corporate finance-related stories involving U.S. and European companies were reported by media on Tuesday:

* India's leading mobile operator Bharti Airtel Ltd has contacted Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds in a search for additional cash to back a bid for a majority stake in South Africa's MTN Group Ltd , the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the situation.

* French bank Credit Agricole will announce on Thursday plans to raise several billion euros in capital to make up for losses at its investment banking arm, French newspaper Les Echos reported.
