Ho Chi Minh City Welcomes Over 1 MLN Tourists in 1ST 4 Months

HO CHI MINH CITY, May 2 Asia Pulse - Ho Chi Minh City welcomed over 1 million foreign tourists in the first four months of this year, a rise of 18 per cent over the same period last year.

According to the municipal Tourism Department, most visitors came from the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Canada, China, France, Singapore and Malaysia .

During the period, about 270,000 local holidaymakers passed through the city's Tan Son Nhat international airport to tour China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia .

The city's tourism industry earned over 9.3 trillion VND (US$589 milliion), a 25 per cent increase over the same period last year.

Vietnam hosted nearly 1.7 million foreign tourists in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 16 per cent.
