Taiwan Customs Officials Seize 1,000 Counterfeit Brake PadsKEELUNG, May 7 Asia Pulse - The Keelung Customs Office in northeastern Taiwan announced Tuesday that its officials had seized nearly 1,000 counterfeit brake discs bearing the marques of Volkswagen, Audi and Honda. A spokesman for the office said a mobile patrol unit found earlier this week that the customs clearance form for a container imported from China claimed that the goods in the container were automobile parts but gave no details about their brand names.
Local representatives of the trademarks who examined the brake discs certified that they are all counterfeit goods. The spokesman said that in addition to being referred to the Bureau of Foreign Trade for violating the Trademark Law, the owner of the trade company that imported the counterfeits will face prosecution on charges of violating the Customs Anti-smuggling Act.
