India's Shyam Telelink Gets Start-up Spectrum in Maharashtra

NEW DELHI, May 15 Asia Pulse - Shyam Telelink, which recently tied up with Russian telecom giant Sistema, has been allocated start-up spectrum for Maharashtra circle.

According to sources, Communication and IT Minister A Raja has cleared the file for allocating start-up 2.5 MHz spectrum (equivalent to 4.4 MHz GSM spectrum) for Shyam Telelink, which has opted to offer CDMA based mobile services.

Earlier, Shyam has been allocated spectrum for 12 circles namely Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh (East) Uttar Pradesh (West), Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana, North-East, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir.

The company is also expected to get spectrum for another seven circles very soon, making it a pan-India operator, sources said.
