Bangladesh's Best Air Starts Flight to Bangkok on May 25DHAKA, May 16 Asia Pulse - With a view to attract foreign tourists from Bangkok, Best Air, a private airliner of Bangladesh, is going to kick off its international journey on May 25. At the initial stage, there will be four Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka flights a week on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
"Initially, we're making schedules of flights for four days a week, but by July we will increase the flight numbers to six a week and end of this year each day of a week," Best Air chairman M Haider Uzzaman told at a press conference held at Hotel Sarina Thursday. Best Air will be the latest domestic carrier to fly on international routes after Biman Bangladesh Airlines and GMG Airlines. Biman Bangladesh Airlines, GMG Airlines, Thai Airways and Druk Air are operating on the Dhaka-Bangkok route. This private airline launched its passenger flight in mid-January with a 118-seater Boeing 737-200 on the domestic route. The carrier is also expected to increase its fleet adding another Boeing 737 this month. Haider said, "We're happy that the government has given us the permission to operate flights to four countries as the third designated carrier from Bangladesh." With each ticket Best Air will provide executive health check-up at Piyavate Hospital in Bangkok, Thai mobile international SIM card for every passenger, discount voucher in King Power Shopping at Bangkok Airport and downtown and snacks voucher at the Suvarnabhumi Airport while leaving Bangkok. The promotional ticket price for next 90 days is fixed at US$ 240 excluding all other charges for Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka flight. "We will not just carry our passengers to Bangkok, we will try our level best to attract foreign tourists in Bangkok to travel Bangladesh and very soon we will offer an attractive package in this connection. This will be one of our prime duties apart from doing business," Haider told the press conference. Currently, Best Air has the permission from the government to operate at seven destinations in six countries, including India, Bangkok, Dubai, Kuwait and Bahrain. "We are expecting to start our flights in India from next month while from July we will be able to operate in Dubai," Best Air chairman said. (UNB)
